UPSC, Union Public Services Commission conducts UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025 every year for the recruitment of many coveted services like IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS and many more. For the session 2025-2026, UPSC Notification 2025 was released by the exam authority on January 22, 2025.

UPSC CSE 2025 Notification (Released)

UPSC Exam notification 2025 stipulates the exam timeline, vacancy details and all the exam specific details. UPSC released the IAS exam notification 2025 on January 22, 2025.

This UPSC notification 2025 marked the commencement of the application process, which remained open until February 21, 2025.

UPSC Exam 2025 Qualification

The UPSC CSE 2025 Eligibility Criteria include the following minimum educational qualifications:

  1. A candidate must have a graduation degree from Government-recognized University or an equivalent qualification.
  2. Candidates in their final year of graduation or awaiting results are also eligible to appear for the UPSC Prelims Examination. However, they must provide proof of having passed the required examination while applying for the UPSC Mains Examination.
  3. The final year of MBBS or medical students acn also appaer and the one who have have not completed their internship can also apply for UPSC CSE. However, they need to submit a certificate of course completion from the concerned authority.

UPSC Exam 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

The UPSC CSE Nationality Eligibility criteria for IAS, IPS and IFS is as follows:

  1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.

The UPSC CSE Eligibility criteria for all other courses is as follows:

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A citizen of Nepal, or
  3. A citizen of Bhutan, or
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 intending to settle in India permanently
  5. A person of Indian origin (PIO) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zaire, and Vietnam, intending to settle in India permanently.

UPSC Exam 2025 Application Form

UPSC, started the UPSC CSE Registration form 2025 on January 22, 2025 and the last date for applying for the application was February 21, 2025. Interested applicants were able to fill out the UPSC exam 2025 application form by making an OTR profile registration like providing personal details, documents, pic and sign uploadation and providing other details required. 

For better ease of understanding, UPSC application form fill up is divided into three stages.

Part 1 (Filling OTR Profile): Registration, filling personal details, address, photo, documents upload. Parental information, employment information, achievements, prizes and medals.

Part 2 (Registration Form): Include Part 1 OTR Details and specific details like Mains centre, language for GS paper, optionals and language paper.

Part 3 (DAF): Interview Medium, services preferences and socio economic questionnaire.

UPSC Mains 2025 Exam Pattern

Consisting of nine subjective papers, the UPSC Main Exam 2025 includes an Essay, four General Studies papers, two optional subjects, and two language papers.The UPSC Mains 2025 exam duration for each subject is three hours and the maximum marks for each subject is 300 Marks. Clearing this stage qualifies candidates for the final UPSC interview.

UPSC Admit Card 2025 is anticipated to be released in the first week of May 2025, tentatively on the UPSC official website.

UPSC CSE Admit Card 2025 is an important specimen which contains exam centre details of the candidate where he need to take the UPSC exam 2025. UPSC CSE Passing Percentage

The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is known for its rigorous selection process and consequently, a relatively low passing percentage. Being nations one of the most competitive exams because of the prestigious job selection in the government domain, the UPSC CSE Exam pass percentage is merely low. Around One Million of aspirants appear for the preliminary stage each year, but only a small fraction qualifies for the  Mains examination. For instance, in the 2024-25 cycle, approximately 1.34 million candidates appeared for the UPSC CSE Prelims, out of which only around 14,627 qualified for the UPSC Mains.

Moving further, the number of candidates appearing for the Mains and subsequently the interview also dwindles significantly.
