Tackling Child Trafficking in India – Legal and Institutional Measures

Overview

Child trafficking in India is still a problem. This is because many people in India are very poor and they have to move from one place to another to find work. The government does not do enough to protect these people and their children. So child trafficking in India is a big issue that the government needs to deal with. Child trafficking, in India needs to be stopped.

Legal and Administrative Response

The crime is against the law, under IPC Section 370. This law is also supported by the Juvenile Justice Act and the POCSO Act. These laws make sure that people are protected, rescued and helped to get to normal life.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Units, Child Welfare Committees and the Ministry of Women and Child Development are the organisations that make sure these laws are followed.

Key Gaps

The thing is, when people have limited coordination and their trials are delayed and they do not get rehabilitation it really reduces the impact of the rehabilitation. Limited coordination and delayed trials are problems because they stop people from getting the full benefit of the rehabilitation. Insufficient rehabilitation is also an issue that reduces the impact of the rehabilitation. Limited coordination, delayed trials and insufficient rehabilitation all work together to reduce the impact of the rehabilitation.

A preventive, child-centric administrative approach and community participation are vital to curb trafficking sustainably.
