The National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), conducted the National Sample Survey (NSS) 80th Round on Comprehensive Measurement of School Education (CMS:E). About National Sample Survey

Important CMS Highlights:E
It is essential to the delivery of education, making up 55.9% of all enrollments. Compared to urban regions (30.1%), it is higher in rural areas (66%).
- For all enrollment levels and school types, the average cost of education per student in rural India was projected to be ₹8,382, whereas in urban India it was ₹23,470. In the current academic year, over one-third of all students (27%) were enrolled in or had previously enrolled in private coaching.
- Compared to rural areas (25.5%), urban areas (30.7%) had a higher prevalence of this trend.Approximately 95% of pupils’ educational costs were covered by other household members.
Just 1.2% of students stated that their primary source of support for their study was government scholarships.
