Why in News: Recently, the Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries launched SIMS 2.0, the enhanced version of the Steel Import Monitoring System.

- API Integration: Integrates with multiple government portals, enhancing quality control and streamlining processes for improved efficiency and effectiveness.

- Database Integration: Enables stakeholders to identify areas of risk for better risk management. For example, if an import consignment declares a source not licensed by BIS, the Ministry can prevent its import. This detailed data assists Customs in conducting better analysis and risk management of steel imports.
